Sgt. Hector Silva tragically died while participating in a special operations training exercise.
Sergeant Silva was taking part in a training exercise where he was required to sprint up two flights of stairs, then run 100 yards while carrying 55 pounds of sandbags. After returning to his office, Sergeant Silva felt dizzy and light headed and collapsed. While being transported to the hospital, Sergeant Silva suffered partial paralysis. Doctors discovered that he had a blood clot in his brain and performed surgery. Sergeant Silva died the next day.
Sergeant Silva was an 11 year veteran of the department; he is survived by his wife and two children.
