Officer Wayne Klacza was killed by an intoxicated driver. Officer Klacza observed a vehicle driving erratically. As he attempted to protect a pedestrian from the motorist, the car swerved and struck and killed him.

The driver of the vehicle was convicted of reckless homicide and sentenced to 6 months in jail.

Officer Klacza served with the Chicago Police Department for 7 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
