Officer Martin Darcy, Jr. was shot and killed when responded to an “armed robbery in progress” call. The armed offender shot a store clerk and wounded another citizen. Following a search of the area, Officer Darcy confronted the gunman who immediately opened fire. Officer Darcy was fatally wounded during the encounter. Officer Darcy’s murderer was shot and killed by return fire.

Officer Darcy was assigned to the 22nd District; He is survived by his wife, five children, and five grandchildren who referred to him as “Papa Bluelight”.
