Jason Gallero died in the line of duty on Thursday, September 15, 2016 after collapsing while participating in a colors run at the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Training Academy, where he served as a highly respected instructor to recruits of the Cook County Sheriff’s office and other law enforcement agencies across Cook County.

Officer Gallero had served with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office for 22 years. He started his career in the Department of Corrections in 1994 before joining the Sheriff’s Police Department in 2002. He is survived by his daughter. Our thoughts and prayers continue for the Gallero family and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
