Firefighter Recruit Cristian Medrano passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of April 12, 2024. Cristian Medrano participated in strenuous search and rescue exercises as part of his training at the Aurora Fire Academy on 4/11/2024 while wearing firefighting protective clothing and SCBA during the drills. He was found deceased at his home within 24 hours of training due to a cardiovascular incident.

He is survived by: his parents, Clarissa Dieppa and Sergio Medrano; his siblings, Alexis Vargas and Mykol Dieppa; his godson Thiago Vargas; his grandparents, Rita Ramos and Alfonso Dieppa; and his girlfriend Savannah. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
