FF Michael Altman of the Chicago Fire Department, assigned to Truck 47, was critically injured in the line of duty on March 16, 2026 while responding to a structure fire on Chicago’s north side. Firefighter Altman sustained critical injuries which he succumbed to on March 17, 2026.

FF Altman began his career with the Chicago Fire Department on May 1, 2024.

He is survived by many family members and friends, including his expectant wife and young child.

Our thoughts are with the Altman family and the Chicago Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.
