The Palatine Police Department is comprised of 110 agency members, with 10 peer support members, serving law enforcement officers, corrections, firefighters, paramedics, and dispatchers. Their Peer Support program originated in 2021. Members are trained through peer support curriculums, including NEMRT and We Never Walk Alone, and peer support members are to complete an annual in-service training.
Aside from peer support, other wellness programs that the department offers includes EAP, an in-house chaplain, an in-house clinician, and wellness spaces.
The department’s peer support coordinators are available to coordinate assistance to outside agencies for one on one peer support requests, critical incident response, and program development or implementation collaboration.
