The McHenry Police Department is comprised of 80 agency members, with 5 peer support members, serving law enforcement officers and dispatchers. Their Peer Support program originated in 2022. Members are trained through peer support curriculums, including Peer Support for Public Safety, and peer support members are to attend one peer support continuing education training annually.

Aside from peer support, other wellness programs that the department offers includes an in-house clinician, therapy K9, wellness spaces, and annual mental wellness checks.

The department’s peer support coordinators are available to coordinate assistance to outside agencies for one on one peer support requests, critical incident response, and program development or implementation collaboration.
