The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of 410 agency members, with 30 peer support members, serving law enforcement officers, corrections, dispatchers, and department support staff. Their Peer Support program originated in 2019. Members are trained through peer support curriculums, with the BRAVE Wellness Center, Crisis Associates, and BlueWall Institute, and peer support members are to attend quarterly trainings.
Aside from peer support, other wellness programs that the department offers includes EAP, an in-house clinician, and family programming.
The department’s peer support coordinators are available to coordinate assistance to outside agencies for one on one peer support requests, critical incident response, and program development or implementation collaboration.
