Can respond for:
  • Law Enforcement Officers
  • Dispatchers

The Deerfield Police Department is comprised of 57 agency members and 4 peer support members. The Peer Support program originated in 2023 and serves law enforcement officers and dispatchers. Members are to attend two peer support continuing education trainings annually and to meet with Peer Support Coordinators on a monthly basis.

Peer Support members have received training through the 40 hour Basic Peer Support Training with Dr. Robin Kroll and the Brave Police & Public Safety Wellness Center. The members support employees through one-on-one conversations, follow-up calls and sending gifts and cards. In December 2023, it launched a department newsletter that is distributed monthly since inception. In addition to these efforts, events are planned and hosted throughout the year as well.

Outside of Peer Support, other wellness resources that are available within the department include EAP, In-house clinician or social worker, wellness spaces, annual mental wellness checks, family programming, and resources.

The department’s peer support coordinators are available to coordinate assistance to outside agencies for general peer support requests and program development or implementation collaboration.
